Ways to get involved

Collaboration with peer educators

We offer opportunities for you to complement your curriculum or course by having our peer tutors, coaches, and program leaders present workshops. We also welcome collaborations with UW faculty and teachers interested in workshops or other events that will enrich learning in their department or at the university overall.

Virtual office hours

Join us as we welcome first-year students to campus by hosting a virtual office hour. Virtual office hours are casual, open question & answer time to help first-year students and families to learn about your department, your research, and develop the confidence to appropriately interact with faculty members. Office hour webinars are hosted throughout the summer on your own schedule.

Seminars

Teach a seminar in autumn, winter or spring quarter. First-year students are encouraged to consider enrolling in a seminar to allow them an opportunity to engage in a unique, focused academic experience with faculty. Students engage in small group, discussion-based class sessions exploring subjects that interest you the most.

Workshop or event presenters

Advising & Orientation: Faculty members who speak at A&O offer personal stories, anecdotes, and experiences about how to be successful in the classroom. Audiences include freshman students, transfer students, international students, and parents & families.

Video, social media, or photography

Prospective, incoming, and current students and their families want to see and hear from UW faculty. Faculty are highlighted in various media forms that are shown throughout the summer and academic year. These opportunities can be as simple as a photo and quote for our website or a video feature in an orientation workshop/presentation.
